Simple Date

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Simple Date collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built this app to be honest with our members — this policy follows the same principle.

1. What We Collect

DataWhy
Email & password (hashed)Account login. We never store your password in plain text.
Mobile phone numberAccount notifications by text message, with your consent — password reset links, date confirmations, and occasional service updates. See "Text Messaging (SMS)" below.
Name, birthdate, gender, seeking, intent, cityYour profile and Discover matching.
Photos & profile song linkShown on your profile, at your choice.
Precise location (only if you opt in)More accurate distance to nearby members. Never shared as exact coordinates with other members.
Pings, dates, chat messages, check-insThe core of how Simple Date works.
Reputation flags & no-show reportsKeeping the two-circle reputation system honest.
Founding 150 "charter" line (if you write one)Shown publicly only if you choose to make it public.
A photo of your government ID (only if you choose to verify)Confirms you're a real person, to help prevent catfishing. Reviewed by our team only, then kept on file if approved — never shown to other members, never included in any profile or card data.

We do not collect payment card details through the app today — membership upgrades during our early launch period are arranged directly with our team.

About ID verification specifically: submitting a government ID photo is entirely optional. It is reviewed by our team to confirm you're a real person, and is stored securely, accessible only through our restricted admin tools — never through the normal app, never visible to any other member, and never returned by any API a member's device can see. If your submission isn't approved, we delete the photo. You can request deletion of an approved ID photo at any time by emailing us, though this will also remove your verified status.

2. How We Use It

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Text Messaging (SMS)

When you provide your mobile phone number and check the consent box at signup (or in your Profile), you agree to receive text messages from Simple Date related to your account — such as password reset links, date confirmations, and occasional service updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or your messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or sold to, any third parties.

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us, or by unchecking the texting box in your Profile. Reply HELP for help, or contact hello@simpledateapp.com.

4. Who Sees What

Other members see the profile information you choose to show (name, age, photos, city, distance, intent, reputation dots, and your song if you add one). Your email address is never shown to other members. Your exact location is never shared — only an approximate distance.

5. Where It's Stored

Simple Date runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Cloudflare Pages and D1), with data stored on Cloudflare's servers. We use industry-standard practices, including salted, iterated password hashing (PBKDF2) — we never see or store your actual password.

6. Cookies

We use one functional cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Your Rights

You can update most of your profile information anytime from Profile. To request a full copy of your data or permanent deletion of your account, email hello@simpledateapp.com — we'll act on it promptly.

8. Children's Privacy

Simple Date is strictly for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we will remove it.

9. Third-Party Embeds

If you add a profile song, the Spotify or Apple Music player embedded on your profile is provided directly by that platform and is subject to its own privacy practices.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where practical, let members know in the app.

11. Contact
